Send Words of Encouragement or Mail
Everyone loves phone calls, words of encouragement, gifts, and mail. And, so do we!
So, if you need ideas for what to include in a care package for our community here are a few ideas. First, we can use clothes (used or new), toys, bedding, socks, shoes, Tupperware containers, and toiletries (including hotel-sized shampoos and soaps). Second, we can also use school supplies and classroom materials like markers, pencils, pens, crafting paper etc and sewing materials. For instance, we sometimes host community activities where donations like these are useful in addition to using them in our classrooms. Finally, donations of new or used laptops, cameras and/or used cell phones are also highly value and serve us well here at the center.
Remember that living in a developing country has its challenges when sending and receiving anything of value (ie. cameras, laptops, etc.). Therefore, before you send something, please check with us first. For example, we often have friends and family that come throughout the year which enable us to most easily receive these types of gifts. Then, we can let you know if there is a person traveling in the near future from Canada or the U.S. who can safely deliver your gift.
Finally, thank you so very much for your partnership.
